A Piece of Happiness

Hey Loves!
Today is Easter Sunday here in the U.S., and I just wrapped up a weekend of baking.
I had a special request for one of Sweet Haven's most popular desserts. Mrs. Royal, who is the mother of one of my best friends, requested a Strawberry Buttercream Cake WITH strawberries in the middle, for her 73rd birthday.
Here's something that bakers face, but we don't often speak about. I was in the process of frosting the top layer of the cake, and the cake starting splitting! I was half way through decorating and the cake just starting splitting in the middle. Because I've been doing this for so long, I didn't panic, but I wanted to. I had to remove ALL of the frosting that I just decorated, and started over.
I placed the cake in the freezer, said a prayer, and said some positive affirmations to the cake- laughing out loud!!
The second time around was the charm! The cake was solid and I was able to successfully decorate again.
This reminds me of something that someone told me almost 5 years ago about my business. Someone told me, "don't you realize that whenever you're apart of someone's special moments, you add a piece of happiness each time, by making their desserts." That's still insightful to me to this day. Although I prefer not to bake as much as I used to, it's still an honor to me when I'm able to be apart of someone's special occasion.
As bakers and entrepreneurs, we have to remember that when we are apart of celebrations, we do add pieces of happiness to the moments and lives of our clients and loved ones.
Happy 73rd Birthday to Mrs. Royal! Thank you for entrusting us with your birthday cake!
Thank you for reminding me that Sweet Haven still adds a piece of happiness to everyone that we bake for.
XO,
LaToya
