Fall Season is upon us! As the weather gets cooler, and the holidays are approaching, we all may have the tendency to indulge more in our favorite dishes and fellowship with our loved ones.

I spent the past few weeks visiting some of Charlotte's top bakeries, to share some of my favorite desserts, and my experiences at each bakery.

I've only been in Charlotte almost two years, so now was the perfect time to explore some places.

My first stop was Amélie's South Park, located at 4321 Park Road. First of all, if you know me, you know that I love French decor and desserts, and this place has both! You have to see the Instagram Reel that I posted for this bakery because I absolutely loved the chandeliers. I would definitely suggest a meeting with friends and a date night here. Customer Service was great, very welcoming. I told the gentleman that it was our first time there, and they were so helpful. I purchased a mini or petite mousse dessert and a danish. They were both very tasty. The mini mousse was great for me because it was the perfect size. They also have a wine and coffee area, that's worth checking out as well. Amélie's has three additional locations in NoDa, Rock Hill, and Carmel Commons.

Our second stop was within close vicinity of Amélie's, off of Park Road, which was Suárez Bakery. Suárez is located at 4245 Park Road. I didn't see a place to actually have a seat, but it is most certainly worth a visit. Customer Service was also a great experience here. I purchased the Coconut Cake, and OMG! That was one of the best Coconut Cakes that I've ever had in my life. The cake was very light, and the flavor and frosting was just enough. I have not stopped talking about their Coconut Cake, and I will definitely be back again, as well as placing a holiday order. They have a variety of desserts, including cupcakes, and I love how their cake slices are portioned. I recommend for a day or night in!

Our next visit was another French Bakery. Renaissance Patisserie is also on the South End, and they're located at 6401 Carnegie Blvd Suite 4A. It was a little bit of an intimate space I would say, but huge in experience. My daughter and I enjoyed lunch and dessert here, and had a great time sitting outside of the cafe. As far as desserts, I tried the French Cheesecake, and it was absolutely delicious. I'm so used to American Cheesecake, (Sweet Haven makes an amazing cheesecake as well) I wanted to try something different, and they did not disappoint. Very flavorful and light. I appreciated the fact that I could have lunch and dessert there as well. They offer a variety of pastries, breads, coffee, etc. I recommend visiting for the cheesecake of course, and great conversations over coffee.

Next on my agenda was Pepperbox Doughnuts. They are located at 101 W Worthington Ave Suite 150. If you are familiar with Hawker's, Pepperbox Doughnuts should not be hard to find. So, I'm not a fan of the parking situation. If you are working or visiting in the area, then it's perfect. If I worked in the area, this place would be my top place for a morning doughnut and coffee. I visited later in the afternoon, and I didn't see any vegan options that I was hoping for. I will try again, because I've seen posts of their vegan doughnut and it looks SO good. I did try, however, the Orange/Citrus and Coffee Doughnut. This was my first time trying anything citrus and coffee (ish) combined, and it was surprisingly good! Pay them a visit when you're in the mood for fresh and authentic doughnuts!

My next stop was BW Sweets! BW Sweets is located at 5820 E W.T. Harris Blvd. When you walk in BW Sweets, the smell is just amazing. I placed my order ahead of time as a pick up order, and it was already ready when I arrived. Customer Service was A-1. I was greeted with a smile when I arrived, and the young lady at the counter was really sweet. I purchased the Blue Velvet Cake, Coconut Lemon Cake, Pecan Pie (all slices), and a Brownie. The Blue Velvet Cake was one of the best things that I've ever had. That was my first time trying anything Blue Velvet and it was light, and the frosting was perfect. The Coconut Lemon was good as well. My mother tried the Pecan Pie (her favorite), and she fell in love. We will be back again for the Pecan Pie for our holiday orders for sure, the best Pecan Pie hands down. Visit for the Pecan Pie and Blue Velvet Cake for sure, and support an amazing Black Business.

Next on my list was Jazzy Cheesecakes. Jazzy Cheesecakes is located at 9402 Northlake W Drive #102. I loved the ambiance of Jazzy Cheesecakes, and, her customers have their own parking spots! I love Black Owned everything and anything and to see this beautiful black woman with her own establishment truly warmed my heart. There was no way that I was going to visit bakeries without supporting her, and her amazing business. I tried the Red Velvet Cheesecake and HONEY!! It was delicious! It was a large portion that can be shared by two people. Customer Service was great. I also love that she offers birthday promotions which added a personal touch to my experience. Jazzy Cheesecakes has several dessert options that are worth it! Visit for specialty cheesecakes for sure.

Last but definitely not least was Manolo's Bakery. Manolo's Bakery is located at 4405 Central Ave. Manolo's is a traditional Spanish Style bakery. Out of all the bakeries that I visited, Manolo's has the best Customer Service. I walked in and looked around a little bit, and a gentleman came right over to assist me. He shared information about each dessert that I inquired about, and also suggested his favorites. I purchased some of the Spanish breads, and a slice of Strawberry Tres Leches cake. The bread was perfect with my morning coffee the next day, and the Tres Leche cake was amazing!! Visit for the ambiance, culture, variety of sweets, and of course great customer service.

Honorable mentions are:

Sunflour Baking Company. I visited a few months ago at the location in Dilworth, and had a pleasant experience.

Also, for a different vibe, check out

Crave Dessert Bar when you're having a night out. They offer appetizers, desserts, drinks, and more. I loved the ambiance there as well.
